The Woman Behind the Builds
Emily Ponti grew up in the rural countryside near Cleveland, Ohio. She always had a sense of adventure and would spend long days in the woods exploring. With her sense of adventure, she soon discovered mountain biking and running, and met her husband at the local bike shop. After their first son was born, it became a priority to raise him in a location that would provide him with a place to adventure. They soon purchased 3 acres in the same county she was raised, adding some chickens, bunnies, and alpacas along the way to the farm. A few years later her mother became ill and was diagnosed with cancer. After a difficult year of treatment, her mother passed. And with heavy grief, she channeled her energy into a run down shed located in her woods, a location where she reminisced of her time growing up in the woods. For the next year, with very little construction experience, she would work on the shed, and unbeknownst to her, start a journey which would change her life. No one could have imagined what the shed was going to turn into but once she began welcoming guests, it became clear she had found her calling. A couple years later she quit her job to pursue building full time.
With Emily's love for the outdoors & her Scandinavian ancestry from her mother, she was inspired to name her company Hygge Home & Garden, LLC, after the Scandinavian word "hygge" which means coziness, comfort, contentment, and well-being. Emily is dedicated to crafting spaces that embody the essence of hygge, in order to offer her guests a truly unforgettable experience. By embodying the essence of hygge into her designs, she aims to create atmospheres that promote relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether it's through the use of natural materials, soft lighting, or cozy furnishings, Emily works tirelessly to ensure that every detail of her spaces contribute to the overall feeling of hygge. Through her commitment to creating memorable experiences for her guests, she has established herself as a talented and sought-after designer.
